Road to Ford Field . . .
1. Mon, October 27 - Final Monday Practice at 6:45 pm (guard /sectionals 6pm)
2. Thursday, October 30 - Color Guard and drums practice 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
4. Friday, October 31 - Rehearse after school 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, then pack up
5. Saturday, November 2 - State Championship (see schedule below)

Band Student Information . . .
· Instruments should be cleaned and polished Friday.
· Instruments will be packed on the trailer after our practice Friday.
· Everyone needs to polish their shoes Friday night.
· Make sure your uniform is clean and pressed.
· Either wear black socks and shoes or show them to your bus captain. Bring your uniform in your garment bag.
· You may wear your band pants on the bus or put them in your garment bag, however you must have them on
when you depart the bus for Ford Field, so wear something your pants will fit over. NO JEANS.
· The judges will be located just above the ‘FORD FIELD’ sign, which is located on the 50.
The Full Day Schedule . . .
3:00 pm Arrive at school with garment bag after wisely getting good sleep Friday night!
3:30 pm Board Buses and leave NHS *NO EATING OR DRINKING ON THE BUS. Rest as much as possible on the bus.
(one rest stop on the way exit #135)
6:30 pm Arrive at our parking lot in Detroit -eat DINNER in the lot.
7:40 pm Uniforms on
8:00 pm Warm up in parking lot
8:45 pm Leave parking lot and walk to meet guide and cue up to go into Ford Field
9:00 pm Move to inside warm-up with guide
9:15 pm Inside Warm-up time
9:40 pm Vacate warm-up room
9:45 pm Move onto field
10:00 pm Performance
At the CONCLUSION OF YOUR PERFORMANCE, our band will exit to their right as they face the crowd. Your winds and percussion battery should head directly for the rear corner to the right of the tunnel (side “1” rear corner). Near the end zone, the band will come upon stairways leading up into the seats. They will file up those stairways and into position to have a group photo taken by JOLESCH PHOTOGRAPHY. Student members of your band pushing pit instruments and smaller props should take them to the auxiliary tunnel located just inside the field level entrance to the tunnel. They may then go up into the stands and join the band for the group photo. After the group photo session push their instruments and equipment up through the AUXILIARY TUNNEL and out of the building. There is little time this year before awards. Hopefully we can find a way to get pit parents/students back for awards!

11:00 pm Walk out of Ford Field to buses, put instruments away, get on buses

2:30 am Approximate arrival time back at NHS
· Buses cannot be locked, do not leave valuables on the bus
· No one is allowed to leave Ford Field to walk around Detroit. That could be very dangerous.
PARENTS, please talk to your kids about this. It will be impossible for chaperones to keep track
of every student all the time. We are only at our parking lot or the stadium. We travel as a group.
· You must ride your assigned bus. Do NOT get on your bus until the captain is at the bus door.
Tell the bus captain your name as you board the bus.
(If you are riding home with your parents, you must give a note to the captain of your bus.)
· A nurse or EMT will be on site from 8:00 am until the end. The nurse will be located at the Main First Aid, section 105.
· An ambulance will be located on the loading dock
– guests should go to main first aid for medical assistance from 8:30 am until the contest ends.
· MCBA Rules: Students should be informed before entering the contest that their behavior will be monitored and could impact their band’s final placement. All students are expected to refrain from using banned substances, alcohol, and tobacco. All students are expected to respect all other students and to be courteous to the band performing on the field. Every band is striving to perform at their highest level, and no band deserves to have less than an attentive audience.
Directions to the Ford Field We highly recommend that you check with the Michigan Department of Transportation and the City of Detroit Department of Transportation for road closures and detours (www.mdot.state.mi.us) and (www.ci.detroit.mi.us/ddot).
FORD FIELD is located at 2000 Brush St, just south of I-75 (Fisher Freeway) and directly across Brush St. from Comerica Park. Take I-96 East to Lansing. From Lansing continue on I-96 East. Take I-275 South to continue on I-96 East. Take I-96 East to I-75 (Fisher Freeway) North and exit at Grand River Ave (Exit 50). Proceed on the I-75 Service Drive across Grand River and Woodward Avenues. Continue on the Service Drive and turn right on Brush St and left onto Montcalm. Montcalm becomes St. Antoine. The Ford Field Parking Deck is located on St. Antoine across from Gate G of Ford Field.

· We NEED you there. Please sit together, cheer us on, and wave those Red #1 Fingers!
· Spectators should enter Ford Field through Gate A or G (gates open at 8:00am).
· All spectators must have a stamped hand and a ticket stub to re-enter Ford Field.
· CASH ONLY !!! Adult tickets - $18.00 Student/Sr. Citizen - $14.00 CASH ONLY!!!
· PARKING: The Ford Field Parking Ramp is located on St. Antoine St. across from GATE G of Ford Field. Parking at the Ford Field Parking Ramp is $8.00+. If the Ford Field Parking Ramp is full, there are many other parking facilities in the area. The cost for parking at locations other than Ford Field Parking Ramp varies and is controlled by the owners of those parking facilities.
· Spectators (ticket holders) may enter Ford Field through GATES A and G. Gates A and G will open at 7:15 am. The TICKET BOOTH is located at GATE A and will open at 7:00am. Handicapped persons must enter through A or G and should provide their own wheel chairs if needed. Ford Field wheel chairs are for EMERGENCY use only. Wheelchair users should enter Ford Field through Gate A or G.
· Contest etiquette dictates that you move about the aisles and leave your seats ONLY between the performances of bands. You should not be blocking anyone’s view at anytime during the performance. Also, everyone should remain quiet during performances (except for positive responses) and respond to each band’s efforts as you would have others respond to our band.
· On sale at Ford Field: t-shirts, sweatshirts, patches, programs, videos, and food.
· Thanks for ALL of your support this season! We hope to see all of you at FORD FIELD!!! Hey parents, remember how excited you got the 1st time you saw parts of the show, like the color guard outfits and the flags, or perhaps an intricate drill and you clapped and cheered? Well, we still need that response!!! You’ve been great all season – cheer us on at Ford Field with those Red Fingers, especially at high impact points!!!
· Video taping WILL NOT be allowed again this year due to the contractual agreement with Mr. Video Productions.

FORD FIELD REGULATIONS
The following information is set forth, at the request of Ford Field, to inform everyone what their requirements are in regard to MCBA’s utilization of Ford Field: Participants and spectators are encouraged to arrive at the stadium entrances EARLY.
SPECTATORS – Bring NO carry-in items and take advantage of the Express Lane(s) at each gate.
TICKET HOLDER RE-ENTERING FORD FIELD
· To re-enter Ford Field, a person must produce a ticket stub and have a stamped hand.
· In order to receive a hand stamp, a person must either hold a complete ticket or be exiting Ford Field with a ticket stub.
· Hands may be stamped at SPECTATOR GATES A or G.
· MCBA will continue to allow ticket holders to exit the Championship Contest and return
later to view more bands as long as this policy is not abused.
· Those people that hand off ticket stubs will cause this policy to be changed to one where
people are not allowed to re-enter the Championship without a complete ticket.
· REMEMBER, CASH ONLY FOR PURCHASING TICKETS!!!

- Prohibited Items: (Spectators) Noise-makers, flags, or banners on a stick or pole (no larger than ¼” in diameter or 2’ in length). (This applies to bands once they become spectators).
- Prohibited Items: (Everyone) Video recorders, audio recorders, laser lights, missile like objects, bottles (plastic or glass), cans, hard case containers, coolers, bags and back packs (band staff – any bags, brief cases, and backpacks may be inspected), soft coolers, large portable radios or TVs, products dispensing by aerosol, medium and large camera cases and weapons of any kind (including pocket knives).
- Allowable Items: Fanny packs, ladies hand bags (no larger then 8 1/2” X 11”), small binoculars, small soft camera cases, cellular telephones, small portable radios, radio head sets (no larger than 6x8), cameras with lenses SMALLER than 5” – These items may be inspected.
- All participants and spectators are subject to visual inspection or management may refuse entry.
- Beverage or food containers may NOT be brought into the Ford Field.
